Dr. Kyle Shannon
Dr. Kyle Shannon began his practice of orthodontics in September 2000 with his father, Dr. Patrick Shannon.
Dr. “Kyle” is a Tulsa native, graduating from Edison High School in 1991. He attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado, where he majored in biochemistry. In 1994, he returned to the sooner state for his dental education at the University of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City. He graduated from dental school in 1998, earning his Doctor of Dental Surgery in June of that year. Immediately after graduation from dental school, he began his two-year post-graduate training in orthodontics, also in Oklahoma City. During his post-graduate studies, Dr. Shannon conducted research projects evaluating orthodontic relapse and congenitally missing teeth.
He holds a Masters degree in orthodontics. His professional affiliations include the following: American Dental Association, Oklahoma Dental Association, Tulsa Endodontic Study Club, Past President of the Tulsa County Dental Society, American Association of Orthodontists, the Southwest Society of Orthodontics, and the Oklahoma Orthodontic Society. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontists.
Dr. Kyle enjoys outdoor sports including hunting, fishing, golf, and mountain biking. He has participated in dental mission trips to the Dominican Republic, Peru, Bolivia, and Mexico with the Christian Medical and Dental Society.
Dr. Patrick Shannon began his orthodontic practice in Tulsa in 1972 with Dr. Stan Pastor, who has since retired. Dr. Shannon attended college at Texas A&M and Oklahoma State University where he earned a B.S. in 1961. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Missouri at Kansas City in 1965. After dental school, he completed a rotating dental internship at Brooke General Hospital. Following his internship, he served a three year tour of duty in Europe with the U.S. Army Dental Corps. He attained the rank of major.
Upon his discharge from the armed services, Dr. Shannon returned to the University of Missouri Dental School as a clinical instructor in periodontics and comprehensive dentistry. He began his graduate orthodontic training at Loyola University School of Dentistry in Chicago in 1970, obtaining his certificate of specialty in orthodontics in 1972.
Dr. Shannon's professional affiliations include the following: Tulsa County Dental Society, Oklahoma Dental Association, American Dental Association, Oklahoma Orthodontic Society, Southwestern Society of Orthodontists, American Association of Orthodontists, Texas Tweed Orthodontic Study Club, Bicentennial Orthodontic Study Club. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. He has served as president of the Tulsa County Dental Society and of the Endo Study Club. Pat and his wife, Genie, have five adult children with whom they enjoy many outdoor sports.
